Rome Lions Club seeks plastic bags to turn into bench

Posted

The Rome Lions Club, in collaboration with the Rome Art and Community Center, will collect plastic bags to recycle on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the circular drive of the RACC, 308 W. Bloomfield St., across from the Rome Family Y. This is a one day event, and COVID protocols will be followed.

Plastic bags such as plastic grocery bags, plastic salt bags and plastic wrap bags (produce, dry cleaning, newspaper) will be collected for recycling. Plastic bags collected will be put toward a recycled bench from Nextrex For information on the recycle program and the types of plastic bags that are acceptable to recycle, go online to  https://www.trex.com/recycling/recycling-programs/

The club has been successful in collecting enough plastic for two benches so far and is excited about a third. The benches have been placed with reading boxes to promote Lions literacy efforts.
