Rome Community Theater plans pair of fundraisers

The Rome Community Theater will host two upcoming fundraisers.

In cooperation with Scotty’s Barbecue and the Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union, the RCT will hold a chicken barbecue on Tuesday, July 21, from noon to 4 p.m. in the credit union parking lot, 924 Turin Road. Tickets are $12 (an additional $1 for a soda) and can be purchased in advance from Chris Galin at 315-339-2545 or cgalin@msn.com.

The RCT prefers patrons buy tickets in advance; however, some tickets will be available at the barbecue.

The second fundraiser is a Give and Take Event on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The RCT is requesting patrons pre-order and pre-pay for a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts (only $10) baked fresh that day and Rome Broasters coffee in 10 ounce foil lined re-sealable bags (also only $10) either ground or whole beans.

Order forms are available on the RCT website – www.romecommunitytheater.org — and describes the various varieties of coffee available and gives instructions to preorder and prepay for both coffee and doughnuts. The form is also available inside a basket hanging outside the theater at 8911 Turin Road. Prepayment must take place by July 25, and then the orders need to be picked up at RCT on the day of the event.

During this fundraiser, RCT will also be selling homemade face coverings at the event (no need to pre-order). The washable masks are dust mask style — fitting around the chin and nose with an aluminum nose piece and foam to prevent foggy glasses as well as two layers of 100% cotton and one non-woven inner layer.

Also at the event, the RCT is collecting returnable bottles and cans and scrap metal. The RCT web site describes the acceptable scrap metal being collected and recycled for cash.

The Give and Take event is designed for participants to drive through and never leave the vehicle. For both events, RCT strongly requests all people wear a face covering.

Questions about the Give and Take can call John Parker at 315-225-4157 or send an email to jparker3531@twcny.rr.com.
