RFA’s McLeod, Notre Dame’s Trinkaus top TVL players
Rome Free Academy’s Amya McLeod and Notre Dame’s Ella Trinkaus earned player of the year honors in Tri-Valley League girls basketball.
McLeod was named the Colonial Division player of the year. During the season, McLeod rose to second on the program’s all-time scoring list, finishing her high school career with 1,782 points. She finished 248 points behind all-time leader Nikki Jo Rotolo but missed out on almost an entire season worth of games because the 2020-21 season was drastically shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
McLeod will be playing at Division I Youngstown State next season.
RFA was the division champion, going 6-0 in the Colonial Division and 12-0 against all league opponents.
Trinkaus is the Pioneer Division player of the year. The freshman scored 383 points to lead the team. Her 65 blocks and 64 steals also led the team. She had 186 rebounds and 52 assists.
Notre Dame won the Pioneer Division, with a 10-0 division record and a 13-1 TVL record.
The Colonial first team players are RFA’s Alysa Jackson and Mia Mirabelli; Thomas R. Proctor High School’s Kavashia Archie Proctor and Lleneilla Rodriguez; and Emily Alt of New Hartford.
The second team is: Whitesboro’s Hayle Bostwick Whitesboro and Maddy Montana; New Hartford’s Danielle Lucas and Kacey Richards; and Kaia Singleton of Proctor.
The Pioneer first team is: Maggie Trinkaus of Notre Dame, Oneida’s Myah Rainbow, Isabella Terzioski of Central Valley Academy, Anna Petersen of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, Camden’s Erica Zike and Terra McLaughlin of Holland Patent.
The second team is: Notre Dame’s Alexa Durso, Avery Rich of CVA, Oneida’s Jordan French, Camden’s Katie McCarthy, Michaela Cushman of Holland Patent and Kennedy Curro of Oneida.
Al Bevilacqua of RFA was named Colonial Division Coach of the Year. Katie Nestler of Oneida was named Coach of the Year in the Pioneer Division.
