UTICA — Utica Mayor Robert M. Palmieri announced the City’s Department of Urban and Economic Development is accepting applications for federal funding that is being provided by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

The funds are available through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs.

Applications are available through the city’s website at cityofutica.com under Featured Initiatives on the homepage. Non-profit organizations seeking funding through these programs must submit an application by noon on Friday, March 17.

Additionally, the City is in the process of drafting its 2023-2024 Annual Action Plan. To solicit public input for this plan, the staff of the city’s Department of Urban & Economic Development will be making brief presentations and encouraging public comment at two
public meetings.

The time of the meetings are as follows:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. at Utica City Hall, 1 Kennedy Plaza, in the Common Council Chambers.
  • Wednesday, March 8 at 5 p.m. at the Empowerment Center, 230 James Street.

“Our administration’s goal is to maximize the federal resources the city receives,” Palmieri said. “We encourage public comment and look forward to reviewing applications to determine how we can invest in the quality of life of our residents.”
