Thanks to the generosity of The Slocum-Dickson Foundation, Inc. Copper City Community Connection recognized its next group of members to achieve the Presidents Active Lifestyle Award.

Susan Streeter, executive director of CCCC, honored program participants Brenda Reid, Phyllis Didio, Pat Wyman, Mary McNeil, Barbara Hill, Paula Wells, Elizabeth Pettinelli, Carol Acomb, Ruth Weltz, Priscilla Wiley, Darlene Hertel, Colleen Starr, and presented them with a PALA certificate and a Price Chopper Market 32 gift card.

All of the members worked for eight weeks to reach the goals set by the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition for healthy eating and exercise.

The program graduates performed 150 minutes of physical activity every week and met the healthy eating goals by eating six of the nine parts of the healthy eating pattern or limiting added sugars, saturated fats, or sodium intake, according to the CCCC announcement.

The next eight-week program is underway through April 14, but you can still join.

You can call the center at 315-337-8230 to find out more about PALA and other Copper City Community Connection events and programs.

Copper City Community Connection is a community-based organization that helps seniors, older adults, and the elderly live healthy, independent lives through social, artistic, educational, and physical programs that support independence and life in the community, the announcement added.
