Police unions endorse Carville for DA
Unions representing the New York State Police and the Oriskany Police Department have endorsed Todd Carville in his run for Oneida County District Attorney, according to Carville.
Carville, who works as an assistant district attorney, is so far running unopposed for the position of Oneida County's top prosecutor. He is chief of the homicide bureau and has been with the office for 20 years.
“It is with careful consideration that the Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers is endorsing Todd Carville for election as Oneida County District Attorney. The NYSTPBA is confident that Todd Carville is the best candidate for Oneida County District Attorney," wrote the NYSTPBA in a letter to Carville. The union represents more than 7,000 retired and uniformed members of the state police from the ranks of trooper to major.
“This endorsement is based on your tenure and extensive professional experience and expertise from being a prosecutor for the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office. We also recognize your unwavering support for all Oneida County law enforcement agencies and the police officers who work to keep our communities safe," wrote the Oriskany Police Department Benevolent Association in a letter to Carville.
In response, Carville said "it is an honor" to receive the endorsements, promising to continuing working with both agencies "to keep Oneida County safe."
Election Day is set for Tuesday, Nov. 7. Incumbent Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara has announced that he is not running for re-election.
