Police say Utica teen stole vehicle from Rome auto dealership

Following a high speed chase and crash in Utica, an 18-year-old man has been charged with stealing the vehicle from James Mitsubishi in Rome.

Authorities said Michael J. Oliver, of Utica, was a passenger in a vehicle pursuit involving the state police and Utica Police in early August. After the vehicle crashed, the 2020 Mitsubishi was traced back to the James Mitsubishi dealership on Black River Boulevard in Rome, authorities stated.

Rome Police said it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the dealership and Oliver has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.

He was issued an appearance ticket for Rome City Court, authorities said.
