UTICA — Gunfire at the Taco Bell on North Genesee Street is under investigation after several shots were fired at another person Thursday afternoon, according to the Utica Police Department.

No arrests have been made so far.

Police said two people in separate vehicles got into an argument in the parking lot of the Taco Bell at about 1:35 p.m. Police said one person pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds toward the victim.

The victim was not struck by gunfire, police said, but he did accidentally cut his hand on some broken glass.

A Utica Police investigator was in the area and responded to the sound of gunshots. Police said the investigator spotted the victim leaving the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle was pulled over and the victim was treated for the cut to his hand, authorities stated.

A search of the parking lot found several spent shell casings, broken glass and a vehicle that had been struck several times by gunfire, authorities stated.

The search is ongoing for the gunman and anyone else involved, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 315-223-3556. Anonymous tips can be sent to the website www.MohawkValleyCrimeStoppers.com or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-730-8477.
