Police officer punched at teen fracas at movie theater
NEW HARTFORD — A New Hartford police officer was injured while trying to disperse a group of unruly teenagers from Marquee Cinema Saturday night, according to the New Hartford Police Department.
Police said they were called to the movie theater in Orchard Plaza at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday for a group of juveniles acting disorderly and refusing to leave. Police said they encountered 12 to 15 youths, both males and females, causing a scene.
While the officers were dispersing the crowd and escorting them out, they said a fight broke out between two teen girls. The officers attempted to break up the fight and one of the officers was punched in the face, suffering a minor injury, authorities stated.
The officer was treated and released from a local hospital. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending against several of the juveniles involved.
