UTICA — Utica Police continue to look for three suspects in a shooting involving two victims that occurred early Saturday on Bleecker Street.

Utica Police said at 4 a.m. patrols and members of Utica Fire Department were called to the 800 block of Bleecker Street regarding a possible gunshot victim. On arrival, two victims were located — one with a laceration to the head and another with both a gunshot wound and head laceration.

Police said during the investigation it was learned the two victims were at a party when three individuals asked for a ride home to the Bleecker Street area. As they arrived at the location, one man in the backseat displayed a handgun and demanded property from the victims. While doing this, another suspect peppered sprayed the victims, and the man brandishing the handgun struck them both in the head while continuing to demand property, police said.

Then during the altercation, one suspect also fired a shot that struck one of the victims in the upper back near his neck. The suspects then fled the scene, and the victims contacted 911, police said.

Both were transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for their injuries. Police said the gunshot victim's injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.

The investigation has been assigned to the Utica Police Major Crimes Unit.
