Petitions for board of education available in Remsen
REMSEN — Petitions for individuals seeking placement on the ballot as a candidate for the Remsen Central School District board of education’s May 16 election may be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the District Office, located in the elementary school, 9733 Main St.
There is one open seat for this election, for a term of five years.
To qualify for membership on the school board, an individual:
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Must be a citizen of the United States;
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or have been adjudged to be an incompetent;
- Must be and have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately before the election;
- May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year;
- May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family;
- May not be a current employee of the school board;
- May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office; and
- Must be able to read and write.
