Oriskany, Sauquoit Valley school districts seek community input

Posted

ORISKANY/SAUQUOIT — The Oriskany and Sauquoit Valley Central School Districts’ Boards of Education are conducting searches for their next superintendents of schools and each district is seeking initial input from community members.

Members of the Oriskany and Sauquoit Valley district communities are being asked to share their feedback using an online information gathering and collaborating platform called ThoughtExchange. Participants will respond to an open-ended question, consider and assign stars to some of the ideas shared by others — 20 to 30 is ideal — and learn what’s important to the group.

They can rate as many thoughts as they would like before moving on to “Discover,” where they can see all of the thoughts sorted by the average star rating.

All thoughts and stars are confidential. Community members can come back as often as they would like to participate and, in fact, they are encouraged to come back to star some of the new ideas shared since they first participated. The ratings will help inform the boards during the superintendent search process and how the districts communicate moving forward.

The separate ThoughtExchanges can be accessed through links on each district’s website homepage. Participation in the ThoughtExchanges will be open until 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3.

Oriskany’s link is www.oriskanycsd.org/thoughtexchange. Sauquoit Valley’s link is www.svcsd.org/thoughtexchange.

As the boards move through the search process, they will continue to provide updates and opportunities for community members to share additional feedback in a variety of ways.

For more information, call Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Superintendent Patricia N. Kilburn at 315-793-8560.
