NEW HARTFORD — Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES will open its campus to the public for an open house from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at 4747 Middle Settlement Road. The event features students showcasing how BOCES and Career and Technical Education (CTE) have evolved through the decades to meet the current labor market. An array of student-crafted items will be available for purchase.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet with instructors and staff, explore potential careers with business and industry partners, and learn about post-secondary offerings from local colleges. Students will have an assortment of projects on display, as well as interactive activities to inform and entertain visitors.
Guests will also be able to visit and learn more about the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) program, which offers an integrated high school and college curriculum focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The program enrolls freshmen in a flexible four, five or six-year program that combines academic rigor and career focus, with graduates earning a high school diploma and an accredited associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College.
For information, contact the CTE Center at 315-793-8666. The Career and Technical Education Center offers more than 20 programs, including seven New Visions programs, to the OHM BOCES’ 12 component school districts: Brookfield, Clinton, Holland Patent, New York Mills, New Hartford, Oriskany, Remsen, Sauquoit Valley, Utica, Waterville, Westmoreland and Whitesboro.
