Nora’s Candy Shop, 321 N. Doxtator St., has been named the Rome Area Chamber of
Commerce’s Member of the Week, according to an announcement by chamber officials on Thursday.
Nora’s Candy Shop, the chamber says, is known worldwide for its Turkey Joints confection, produced in Rome since 1919. Turkey Joints — which gets its name from its bumpy yet sweetly elegant appearance — began as a Thanksgiving and Christmas
tradition and soon became popular year-round for all occasions, the chamber announcement added.
In addition to its traditional Turkey Joints candy — which is made of chocolate and Brazil nuts covered in a sweet, crunchy and silvery coating — Nora’s also features several other Turkey Joint varieties, including Midnight Cashew Sticks, Peanut Butter Sticks, Coco-monds and Chocolate-Covered Turkey Joints, as well as a full selection of chocolate confections and molded items.
Owners Spero and Sharon Haritatos invite visitors to stop in at the store as they have taken all necessary precautions to ensure customer safety in the store due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they said. Shoppers are also welcome to call ahead with orders at 315-337-4530 as Nora’s also offers curbside delivery.
Online ordering is closed for the summer and will return when the weather cools.
Nora’s Candy Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The store is closed Sundays.
The Member of the Week program was launched by the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce earlier this summer. The program is designed to highlight and acknowledge the many contributions and achievements of local businesses.
