No passengers injured when plane slides off snowy runway at Syracuse airport
SYRACUSE — A Delta Air Lines passenger plane slid off a taxiway at Syracuse Hancock International Airport in Tuesday morning's snowstorm, according to airport officials. No one was injured.
Authorities said the Airbus A220-100 slid off the taxiway north of the main runaway around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, coming to rest off the pavement in the snow. By 8:15 a.m., the airport responded to the plane and helped evacuate 61 passengers and their luggage, with everyone returned to the terminal.
The pilot and cabin crews were also evacuated to the terminal. Airport officials said no one was injured.
The crash did not impact airport operations and other flights continued, officials stated.
A Delta Air Lines recovery team was expected to arrive at the airport by Tuesday evening to help clear the plane.
