No injuries when U-Haul crashes through wall at Dewitt Clinton Apts.
ROME — No one was injured when a U-Haul truck crashed into the laundry room at the Dewitt Clinton Apartments in south Rome on Wednesday, according to the Rome Fire Department.
Deputy Fire Chief Michael H. Liddy Jr. said a female driver was maneuvering through the parking lot shortly after noon on Wednesday when she lost control of her U-Haul box truck. Liddy said the truck hit two parked vehicles before jumping the curb, hitting a tree and then crashing through the wall into the community laundry room.
The truck were inches away from hitting the main gas line to the complex, Liddy noted.
No one was injured in the crash, Liddy said. National Grid was called to assist at the scene, along with the Rome Codes Department and the Rome Police Department. The crash remains under investigation.
