Rome First and Delta United Methodist churches have welcomed Pastor Sherry Mahar to lead their congregations, the churches have announced.

The new pastor began her duties at the area churches on Thursday, July 1, the announcement adds.

Sunday, July 4, will be her first Sunday presiding in worship to the local congregations.

The Rev. Mahar is coming to the area from the Joshua Connection (Pendleton Center and Niagara Falls First United Methodist Churches), where she has served since 2015. “She has been active with and is passionate about worship, youth, missions, and making connections,” church officials noted.

Pastor Mahar is married to Donald “D.J.” Mahar, and they are the parents of Olivia and Joshua.

She graduated from United Theological Seminary in 2019. “Rome 1st and Delta UMCs ask for prayers for Pastor Sherry as she transitions into the community.”
