New Hartford’s Makenzie Desmarais claimed player of the year honors from the Tri-Valley League winter volleyball season.

The senior was also one of the three New Hartford players to earn selection to the TVL First Team.

Demararis had 256 kills during the season for New Hartford, which finished 17-2 overall. Her kills were most among the Section III teams that participate in the winter, according to statistics posted on the High School Sports Stats website. She also had 188 digs, 64 aces and five blocks, according to the stats provided. 

The Tri-Valley Coach of the Year was Rome Free Academy’s Pete Keoviengsamay. He helped guide the Black Knights to the school’s first sectional title in more than 30 years after claiming the Section III Class A championship in February.

RFA finished with a 14-3 overall record.
