New father and son exhibit opens at View
OLD FORGE — View, the Center for Arts and Culture, 3273 Route 28, has opened the new exhibit “A Father & Son’s B&W Film Series by John & Kurt Gardner.” The exhibit opened Saturday, and the work of the local photographers will be on display through Sunday, Aug. 21.
The exhibit shares a father and son’s love of photography through a series of limited edition black and white prints. The collaboration of these photos are by Old Forge residents John and Kurt Gardner and were traditionally printed by John, a retired “Master B&W printer” for Kodak, where he worked for more than 32 years.
Many of the images in this exhibition were captured on John’s refurbished 4x5 film camera. This is the first time John will have a chance to be showcased in the spotlight for his photos instead of behind the scenes, according to exhibit organizers.
A reception for the artists will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22, and will be open to the public.
Hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available.
View is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Gallery admission is free for View members and $10 for guests.
