UTICA — Chris Spilka has been tapped to fill the chair as the executive director of the Good News Center. Officials with the organization say Spilka comes with an array of experience having served as the director at Christ the King Retreat Center in Syracuse and director of Youth Ministry at Holy Family Church in Syracuse.

While he has an extensive background working in Syracuse, Spilka calls Utica his home having grown up here. Spilka is excited to be back to his hometown, one that he sees burgeoning with economic growth.

He hopes to entice youth and young adults to take advantage of the programs and facilities offered at the center while aiding them on their faith journeys.

“I am beyond excited to be your new director here at the Good News Center,” Spilka said. “I have had the opportunity to visit the center on many occasions and I have always been mesmerized by the environment and resources The Good News provides for the great people of central New York and beyond”

Spilka will be replacing Judy Hauck who will be retiring from the position at the end of November.

During her tenure, Hauck has been a key source in growing the Good News Center. Officials with the Good News Center say the programs, the facility and the message of the organization have never been stronger due to her work ethic and faith.
