New CEO takes helm at firm
SYRACUSE — Carolyn Sturick, a certified public accountant, has been named the new chief executive officer for Dermody, Burke & Brown, which has offices in Syracuse, Auburn, New Hartford, and Rome.
Sturick has served for the past 13 years as the chief operating officer of the firm. As CEO, she will focus on strategies to ensure continued growth, client successes, staff development, and maintaining all of the personal relationships so vital to a successful firm.
She replaces Madelyn Hornstein, who served in this position since 2010.
“It has been an honor to serve as the firm’s CEO since 2010,” said Hornstein. “With my impending retirement at the end of 2023, it is important for the firm, our clients, and our staff to have a new leader in place to ensure a smooth transition. Carolyn has been with the firm for over 33 years and in a leadership position for over 13 years. She has the respect of her clients and our staff. She is the perfect person to take over this position and I have no doubt will lead with integrity and continue to help our clients achieve success.”
“I am looking forward to this new role,” Sturick said. “I am confident in our talented team of employees here at Dermody, Burke & Brown and I am so honored to represent them. Our top priority is and will continue to be our clients and helping them achieve their goals.”
Dermody, Burke & Brown, CPAs, has been serving the Central New York business community since 1956. With offices in Syracuse, Auburn, New Hartford, and Rome, Dermody Burke & Brown is one of the largest independently locally-owned accounting and business advisory firms in the region.
