MWPAI hosts guest speaker Abigail Rockwell Thursday
UTICA — Personal insights into the life and art of Norman Rockwell will be shared by the artist’s granddaughter, Abigail Rockwell, during the presentation, “My Grandfather, Norman Rockwell,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute on Genesee Street.
Drawing from her family history as the editor of the re-released Norman Rockwell autobiography, “My Adventures as an Illustrator: The Definitive Edition,” Rockwell will bring new illustrations, drawings and information to a discussion with Mary E. Murray, curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Munson-Williams. A question-and-answer period will be included.
A light reception, cash bar, and book-signing will follow, with an opportunity to view the Norman Rockwell exhibition. Books are available to purchase at the Museum Shop.
Admission is $35, $30 for Munson-Williams members, and are available at 315-797-0055 or mwpai.org.
The Museum of Art exhibition, “Norman Rockwell,” is on view through Sept. 18.
Support is provided by Market NY through I LOVE NY/New York State’s Division of Tourism as a part of the Regional Economic Development Council awards.
Public programs for Norman Rockwell have been sponsored by Dr. Elizabeth R. Lemieux.
