MVCC splits twin bill in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH — The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team split Sunday's doubleheader with Bergen CC of New Jersey at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
In game one, the Hawks won 7-5 as Mike Darrell pitched six innings allowing four runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. Anthony Mante closed the door in the seventh to earn the save. Offensively, the Hawks were led by Kevin DelVecchio, David Breakell and Patrick Linck with two hits apiece. Josh Duval and David Breakell each had two RBIs.
In the second game, the Hawks lost 13-0 as Bergen put the game away with a seven-run fourth inning.
The Hawks (2-2) returned to action today against against Sussex CC of New Jersey.
