MVCC Rome announces winter events

From movies to game show nights and special workshops, Mohawk Valley Community College Rome Campus has several events and activities planned for February and March.

Events include:

Movie: “King Richard”

A look at how tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams became who they are after the coaching of their father, Richard Williams.

Rated PG-13, 138 minutes: Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., Festine Auditorium, PC. General admission $5; MVCC employee, $2.

Gameshow: “Jeopardy!” 

“Jeopardy!” is a classic game show, with a twist. The answers are given first, and contestants supply the questions for the chance to win up to $300 in prizes.

Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., Festine Auditorium, PC. General admission $5; MVCC employee, $2.

Gameshow: “Minute to Win It” 

Fully interactive live game show, with trivia and physical challenges, where contestants have the opportunity to win up to $300 in prizes.

Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m., Festine Auditorium, $5 general; $2 MVCC employee.

Movie: “Eternals” 

The saga of the Eternals, a race of immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations.

PG-13, 157 minutes.

Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Festine Auditorium. General admission $5; MVCC employee, $2.

Workshop: “Cheese and Charcuterie Board Design & Theory,” with Vincent Petronio, executive chef at motus Utica

In this hands-on workshop, Petronio will teach the art of charcuterie. In the French tradition, charcuterie is the art of preparing and assembling cured meat, cheeses, and garnishes. Limited tickets are available.

Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m. in Rome Community Hall/Room 150. General admission $10; $5 for MVCC employees.

Performance: World’s Foremost Mind Reader Robert Channing form NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”

American Sign Language Performace: “Cromania!” with Deaf Comedian Crom Saunders

The event will be verbally translated for the hearing abled. “Cromania!” features skits that incorporate pop culture, impersonations, improvisation, puns, and physical feats. Visit thecromsaunders.com.

For mature audiences only Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in Festine Auditorium. Admission $10 general; $5 MVCC employees.

Family Fun Series: “Sing 2” 

Buster Moon and his friends must persuade reclusive rock star Clay Calloway to join them for the opening of a new show. The film will be followed by activities and snacks.

Rated PG, 115 minutes at noon Saturday, March 26 in Festine Auditorium. General admission $5; $2 MVCC employees.

Make and Take Workshop: “Polymer Clay Earrings,” with Marissa Perkins of Creative Roots Design

A fun, easy and trendy workshop where students design their own polymer clay earrings. Each student will learn and complete a pair of clay earrings.

Tuesday, March 29 at 6 p.m. in Rome Community Hall/Room 150. General admission $5; MVCC employees $2.
