UTICA — Hanna Park at Utica City Hall will be filled with activities and entertainment for the community on Monday, July 11.

A Day of Music and Magic will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This free summer fun party, which is presented by local rapper, artist and author Eugene “G Swiss” Thomas and the City of Utica Youth Bureau, will feature performances from Thomas and local illusionist Leon Etienne.

Also featured will be live DJ’s, food vendors, the Utica Bulldogs cheerleaders, costume characters, as well as face painting and a bounce house for children.

The Utica Youth Bureau is optimistic that families and children will enjoy the event with summer now in full swing.

“Hopefully there is a lot of participation,” said Recreation Director Lonnie Jenkins. “I think this will be really good for families and also kids. The kids are out of school and family members are probably looking for something to do.”

Thomas came up with the idea of hosting the event as a way to bring the community together and to show his appreciation as he returns to the area.

“I thought it would be cool to do something different in Utica,” Thomas said. “So I thought maybe we go ahead and make a music and magic event. It’s basically all tied in to those things, but it’s a majority of me being on the road, not being able to see people and me just wanting to give back to my city here, the people that I love and catch up with them.”
