Multiple drug charges filed against Utica man in Lewis County
LOWVILLE — A Utica man is facing multiple counts of drug possession after he was found with a felony amount of crack cocaine, while being picked up on a warrant for a previous drug charge, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Ronnie Lewis, 46, of Scott Street, Utica, was indicted by a Lewis County grand jury on drug charges, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Deputies said Lewis was spotted on March 10 and was taken into custody on the warrant.
Both Lewis and his vehicle were searched, and authorities said he was found with 24 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale and $2,168.
Lewis is charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, deputies stated. He was arraigned in court and was sent to the county jail without bail, due to three prior felony convictions, authorities said.
Lewis also appeared in Lewis County Court on Tuesday on the indictment, which charges him with two counts each of third-degree possession and third-degree sale of a controlled substance, deputies said. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
