Mother, son sent to hospital as vehicle leaves roadway after swerve to avoid deer
VERONA — A mother and her teen son were hospitalized after their pickup truck went off Irish Ridge Road to avoid a deer Thursday night, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Hayley Tucker, 36, was northbound at about 8:42 p.m. when a deer entered the roadway and her attempts to avoid it caused her 2011 GMC Sierra to go off the east shoulder.
Deputies said the truck went into an embankment and struck a fence.
Hayley and her 15-year-old son, a passenger, suffered minor facial injuries and were treated at Oneida Health, authorities stated.
