MOBOCES students advance to SkillsUSA state competition
VERONA — There will be 16 Madison-Oneida BOCES students heading to the SkillsUSA state competition in April after earning top three finishes in their contests at the regional meet earlier this month.
SkillsUSA is a national education-industry partnership that allows students to compete in career-focused contests to demonstrate their technical, employment and leadership skills. Students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs compete locally and regionally to qualify for slots at the state, national and international levels.
There were 50 CTE students representing MOBOCES at regionals Feb. 10 at SUNY Morrisville. The team earned 11 awards — nine for individual students and two for team events — including four first place finishes.
The 16 students who qualified for states, to be held in April in Syracuse, represent 10 different events, seven area high schools and six CTE programs.
