SYRACUSE — Monday, state Sen. Rachel May, D-53, Syracuse, held her annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event at the Samaritan Center in Syracuse.

May was joined by her colleague state Sen. John W. Mannion, D-50, Syracuse. Together they served meals to clients of the Samaritan Center and distributed masks and at-home COVID-19 self-test kits.

"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. taught us much about compassion, leadership, and struggle,” May said.

“He also modeled acts of service to your community through your time and your work. Each year we celebrate his legacy through our own acts of service to those around us. I was honored to join my colleague, Senator Mannion, and the Samaritan Center for another year serving food and kindness to those in need," the Syracuse Democrat added.

The 53rd Senate District is based around the city of Syracuse and includes all of Madison County and parts of Oneida County, including the town of Kirkland and village of Clinton.
