Man with multiple warrants across region taken into custody
WHITESBORO — A 32-year-old man with warrants from at least four different law enforcement agencies was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the Whitesboro Police Department.
Police said Corey J. Phillips, of Utica, was spotted walking in a parking lot on Westmoreland Street on Wednesday, and officers were familiar with him from both his active warrants and as part of another investigation. Phillips was stopped and questioned, and police said he gave a fake name to the officer.
Phillips is charged with second-degree impersonation and second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Whitesboro Court.
Phillips will also answer warrants from the New Hartford and New York Mills police departments, the state police in Herkimer County and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, authorities stated.
