Man shot in back; Utica police seek info
UTICA — A Utica man was shot in the back on South Street late Monday night and the gunfire remains under investigation, according to the Utica Police Department.
Authorities said the victim, whose identity was not released, was seated in a vehicle in the 100 block at about 11:55 p.m. when he heard the shots and felt himself get hit in the upper back.
Police said the victim told nearby family members and he was rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.
Police said the injuries are not-life threatening.
Officers searched the area and said they found empty casings and spent projectiles in the area of the 100 block of South St.
Anyone with information on the gunfire is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 315-223-3556.
