An Oneida man convicted of sexually abusing multiple children was sentenced in Madison County Court on Monday to 40 years to life in state prison.

Daniel Hatch, 41, of Oneida, was on trial in June in Madison County Court and was found guilty by a jury of three counts each of first-degree sex abuse and third-degree criminal sex act; two counts of second-degree criminal sex act; and one count each of predatory sexual assault, first-degree criminal sex act and attempted first-degree criminal sex act, according to court
officials.

On Monday, Hatch was sentenced to 40 years to life in state prison, with 40 years of post-release supervision, court officials said. In total, officials said Hatch was sentenced to 120 years in prison, and that was then reduced to 40 years because some of the sentences will run concurrently.

Police said Hatch was taken into custody in January 2019 on accusations that he had sexually abused multiple children over the course of several years in Oneida.

Police said the children ranged in age from 11 to 17. Police said Hatch would also provide alcohol to the children.

According to police, the investigation continued after Hatch was in custody and even more child victims were discovered, leading to more charges.
