Man faces charge after shooting of family dog

TOWN OF VIENNA — Accused of shooting and killing the family dog on Tuesday, a 69-year-old man was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said Malcolm Tilton was involved in a domestic dispute with family members on Elpis Road at about 3 p.m. After the argument, deputies said Tilton shot and killed the family’s dog.

Tilton was taken into custody and the deputies determined he needed a mental health evaluation. Tilton was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Deputies said Tilton was ticketed for animal cruelty and is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
