TOWN OF OSCEOLA — A 49-year-old man was killed when his snowmobile crashed into a group of trees in Lewis County Thursday night, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Derek Hortman, of West Seneca, Erie County, was riding on Trail C5C at about 9 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve on his 2022 Ski-Doo Renegade. Deputies said the snowmobile went off the groomed trail and crashed into a group of trees.
