Lutheran Home employee accused of stealing jewelry


TOWN OF KIRKLAND — An employee at the Lutheran Home is accused of stealing jewelry from one of the residents, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said they were notified on Aug. 18 that a resident of the Lutheran Home had valuable jewelry stolen. Following an investigation, deputies said 22-year-old Mirella Perez-Rodriguez, of Utica, was identified as the thief and she was taken into custody on Friday. Deputies said Perez-Rodriguez worked at the Lutheran Home. Perez-Rodriguez is charged with one count each of third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree possession of stolen property, both felonies, police stated.

She is scheduled to appear in court.
