Loyola University Maryland welcomes local student

BALTIMORE, MD — Loyola University Maryland has announced that Ella Friedel, of New Hartford, has enrolled at the university.

All first-year students take part in Loyola’s living learning program, Messina. The common text for Messina is Heartland, by Sarah Smarsh. The book, the college says, is a memoir of working-class poverty in America that “will deepen our understanding of the ways in which class shapes our country.”
