WHITESBORO — Central New York home improvement company New York Sash is once again hosting the Shower for a Soldier Bath Makeover Giveaway to benefit one veteran with a free bathroom makeover.
The company is seeking the public’s help in nominating a deserving local veteran.
The goal of Shower for a Soldier is to improve the life of a veteran experiencing hardships that hinder everyday tasks such as bathing. As Sash’s “thank you” for their service, one nominee will be selected to have a new tub or shower installed in their bathroom by New York Sash.
Last year’s recipient of the Shower for a Soldier Bath Makeover was U.S. Marine Corps veteran Lee Watkins of Ilion in Herkimer County. Watkins was nominated by his wife, Nancy and received a tub-to-shower conversion by New York Sash to make stepping into the shower easier.
“We are proud and honored to be bringing back our Shower for a Soldier Giveaway for a second year. At New York Sash this is one of the ways that we can give back to the men and women of the Armed Forces who have sacrificed and given so much for us and our country,” said New York Sash owner Scot Hayes.“After seeing the positive effect this giveaway had on last year’s recipient Mr. Watkins, we knew this is something that we want to continue doing for veterans in our community.”
New York Sash will be accepting nominations of deserving veterans until Nov. 1. The winner will be announced on Veteran’s Day.
