Loaded handgun found during Thruway traffic stop
WESTMORELAND — A Kansas man accused of speeding on the Thruway Sunday night was also found with a loaded handgun, according to the New York State Police.
Troopers said Jose A. Ayala-Rivera, 21, of Kansas, was pulled over for speeding on the Thruway in Westmoreland around 8:21 p.m. Sunday. Once stopped, troopers said Ayala-Rivera was found with a loaded 9mm handgun and other firearms equipment.
Ayala-Rivera is charged with one count of second-degree possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and two counts of unlawful possession of an ammo feeding device, a misdemeanor, authorities stated. He is scheduled to appear in court.
