TOWN OF GREIG — Two Lewis County residents have been charged with a series of thefts after a break-in at the Greig Store, according to law enforcement officials.
Sheriff’s deputies said a burglary was reported at the Greig Store in the Town of Greig in the early morning hours of Oct. 11. Deputies said Jesse Lee and Rebecca Lynch, both of Lyonsdale, were identified as suspects and they were found a short time later living in two camping tents in a yard in Lyonsdale.
A search warrant was executed on the tents and deputies said they found merchandise taken from the Greig Store. Deputies said they also found drug paraphernalia and loot stolen from two other recent larcenies.
On Oct. 15, deputies said they attempted to take Lee and Lynch into custody, and the pair attempted to flee on bicycles. They were taken into custody shortly thereafter.
Lee and Lynch are both charged with at least one count each of third and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, second-degree use of drug paraphernalia, fifth-degree possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, authorities said. They were arraigned in court and were released on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to reappear in court.
