I have decided to finally take a stand. Congressman Chris Jacobs (Republican, Buffalo), moved by the TOP’S Market slaying of 10 people in his congressional district, and the Uvalde, TX school slaying of 19 little children, has chosen not to run for re-election, because of Republican hatred showered on him as he changed his position to being against military weapons and their knockoffs being in civilian hands.

I agree with Congressman Jacobs. I have long supported elimination of military weapons and their knockoffs in the hands of citizens. My position is the result of the year I spent in Vietnam (6th Battalion, 32nd Artillery Division, Tuy Hoa, Vietnam, Mar 69 – Mar 70). I saw M-16s do their killing job well in war; however, copycat weapons in the hands of civilians are a total misuse.

One would then say, OK become a Democrat and join the anti-baby killing antigun crowd.
Not so fast. My wife Ruth and I have 3 sons. Our oldest son began kicking me in the back early in Ruth’s pregnancy. I knew nothing about babies in the womb, but I sure learned fast that these little unborn babies had lots of life in them.

Each of the three boys was unique, and I learned more as Ruth pointed out the differences among them and their personalities in the womb. As you may guess, I cannot support taking their lives because they are inconvenient, and I cannot support abortion on demand.

So, after 55 years as a registered Republican and voting for who I felt was the best candidate, no matter which party they were in, I have no one to vote for.
