Lake Delta Kiwanis Club presents awards to Rome Free Academy Key Club member

The Lake Delta Kiwanis Club presented its 2020 Kerin-Walker Award to Liesl Froschauer, daughter of Greg and Aurelia Froschauer, during a ceremony at the club’s weekly meeting on Tues., July 21.

The memorial award, named after Ed Kerin and Bill Walker, both of whom served as advisers to the Rome Catholic High School Key Club for many years, is given to the Rome Free Academy Key Club member who totaled the most community service hours during the school year.

Froschauer, as club president, never missed a meeting or function that the RFA Key Club participated in, despite the shortened school year and other COVID-19 impacts.

The award includes a $200 scholarship.

Froschauer also received the Sylvia Colangelo Award. This award is given to the top RFA Key Club member and is named after longtime member Paul Colangelo’s wife.

Both Paul and Sylvia Colangelo chaperoned many Key Club conventions over the years,
the Kiwanis Club announcement said, and after
her passing, has helped to keep Sylvia’s memory alive.
