Knife attack in Utica leads to charges
UTICA — A 46-year-old man is accused of attacking another man with a knife at South and West streets in the Cornhill district Monday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Ronnell Staples, of Utica, got into a fight with another man near South and West streets around 11 a.m. Monday. Police said Staples pulled out a knife and threatened the other man, then swung at him with the knife, just missing the other man's face.
Staples was located a short time later and was taken into custody on one count each of attempted second-degree assault, third-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
