Kirkland Senior Center announces November schedule

Posted

CLARK MILLS — Kirkland Senior Center on Mill Street is open Tuesdays for special activities and events.

There is bingo and pool starting at 9:30 a.m.; Chair Exercise Class from 11:15-11:45 a.m. and lunch at noon. There is coffee, tea and water available at a 25 cent charge for water. Most Tuesdays there is a 50/50 raffle.

The center’s schedule for November is as follows:

  • Nov. 8: Election Day, no meetings.
  • Nov. 15: Grilled cheese and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, salad for $5.
  • Nov. 22: Turkey dinner (compliments of The Grand).
  • Nov. 29: 11 a.m. council meeting, followed by a covered-dish and birthday dessert celebration at noon.

Seniors are welcome to bring their own lunch if they prefer. The last Tuesday of the month is always “bring a covered dish,” and the center celebrates birthdays for the month.

Occasionally, the center will host speakers or entertainment. After the meeting, members play cards, work on jigsaw puzzles, play cornhole or just visit.

The center has a library full of both paperback and hard-covered books. Once a month, the center hosts Dine-Around, where seniors go out for lunch at a restaurant in the surrounding area.

In good weather, Kirkland Senior Center often hosts day trips, such as Theodore’s Restaurant in Canastota for lunch and a play, a road trip to Cooperstown or an afternoon enjoying wine tasting and music at the Brimfield Winery in Clinton.

Yearly dues are $10, which are due in January. For more information, contact director Jim Nolan at 315-941-5323 or email kirklandseniorcenter@gmail.com.
