CLARK MILLS — Kirkland Senior Center on Mill Street is hosting several special lunches during the month of January.
The senior center is open Tuesdays. There is bingo and pool at 9:30 a.m., Chair Exercise class from 11:15-11:45 a.m. and lunch at noon. There is coffee, tea and water available at a 25-cent charge for water. Most Tuesdays a 50/50 raffle is held.
The January schedule is as follows:
- Jan. 3: Goulash, green beans and tossed salad for $3.
- Jan. 10: Christmas Party at The Roselawn banquet facility on Main Street, New York Mills.
- Jan. 17: Shepherd’s Pie, cauliflower, wheat bread and apple sauce for $3.
- Jan. 24: Meatloaf with gravy, Brussel Sprouts, and wheat bread for $3.
- Jan. 31: 11 a.m. Council Meeting with a covered-dish lunch at noon.
Attendees may also bring their own lunch. The last Tuesday is always bring-a-covered-dish and a celebration of birthdays for the month.
Kirkland Senior Center also hosts guest speakers and entertainers, and there are also card games, jigsaw puzzles and corn hole. There is a library filled with both paperback and hard-covered books, and once-a-month the center hosts a Dine-Around Town trip where members go to an area restaurant for lunch.
The center also offers day trips such as Theodore’s Restaurant in Canastota for lunch and a play, a road trip to Cooperstown or an afternoon enjoying wine tasting and music at the Brimfield Winery in Clinton.
Yearly dues are $10, due in January. For more information, contact Director Jim Nolan at 315-941-5323, Sharleen Machold at 315-335-4151 or email kirklandseniorcenter@gmail.com.
