Kindergarten, pre-K registration under way for Adirondack school district

BOONVILLE — The Adirondack Central School District has begun recruitment and registration for its universal pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for the 2022-2023 school year.

Universal pre-kindergarten for 3-year-old children is open to all children residing in the school district who are three years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Up to 18 children are allowed in each classroom.

Universal pre-kindergarten for 4-year-old children is open to all children residing in the school district who are four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Up to 18 children are allowed in each classroom.

The pre-kindergarten program aims to enhance child development, have a positive impact on student achievement and future academic success, the district announcement said. Universal pre-K is a full day program, and busing will be provided for students who are four years of age or older.

Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year is also under way, the district said.

Children eligible for kindergarten must be five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Children who did not attend an Adirondack preschool will need to be registered to attend.

To register, contact Tonya Kazek, district registrar with a correct name and mailing address to receive the forms. Parents/guardians need to mail the completed packet or make an appointment to turn packet in to Tonya Kazek in the district office no later than March 1 or risk having the child be put on a waiting list.
