Craobh Dugan O’Looney, the local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, will hold a traditional Irish Music Session from 7-9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Copper City Brewery, 1111 Oneida St.

The session is free, and all musicians who are interested in playing Irish Traditional Music and play instruments such as fiddle, whistle, flute, accordion, mandolin, and tenor banjo, may participate. Spectators are also encouraged to come and listen and enjoy an evening of traditional music.

Sessions have a long history in Irish Traditional Music, going back more than 75 years. They are usually held in public houses (pubs) and have a format that includes musicians playing sets of standard Irish tunes in the traditional manner. Singers are usually present as well. And with the holiday season in full swing expect a Christmas song or two.

Craobh Dugan O’Looney was established in 1978 for the purpose of promotion Irish music, dance, and language in the Utica-Rome area.
