Illustrator, ‘Office’ trivia, headline upcoming events at Oneida Public Library


ONEIDA — The following events will take place in August at the Oneida Public Library, 220 Board St.:

Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. — Illustrator Visit. Local illustrator, Bernie Hurlbut, visits for a free animal drawing workshop. Ages 5 to 18 years. Walk-ins welcome.

Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. — Science Exploration Day. The Museum of Science and Technology will be on site for two special programs: Fantastic Forces (sports and games, ages 8+), and Explosion Explorers (science of explosions, ages 11+).

Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. — “The Office” Trivia Night. Head back to Dunder Mifflin and get ready to “feel God in this Chili’s tonight” with The Office trivia night. Food, fun, and prizes, with a chance for attendees to walk away with their very own Dundie.

Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. — August is National Wellness Month, come to OPL for “Tools for Wellness; Creating Balance in the Midst of Chaos”. Learn from local mental health professionals, Lenora Corpin and Jacqueline Hawkins, about stress management, self-care, mindfulnness, community resources, and more.

Aug. 23 through Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. — LEGO Robotics. Participants will learn to build, code, and compete with LEGO Robots. Grades 6-8. Registration required.

Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. — Red Cross Blood Drive

Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.— Check ‘Em Out Book Club. This month, the book club will be reading “Little Fires Everywhere,” by Celeste Ng. Books available at the circulation desk. Registration required.

Tuesdays at 10 a.m. — Ready to Read. Pre-school-aged children join Miss Megan for stories, and activities. Walk-ins welcome.

Tuesdays at 4 p.m. — Farmer’s Market Story Time. Visit Miss Megan at the Farmer’s Market at Cottage Lawn for Story Time.

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. — Tech Help. Oneida Public Library techies are ready to assist patrons with troubleshooting your devices. Walk-ins welcome.

Thursdays at 10 a.m. — Tai Chi. Experience meditation in motion. All skill levels and walk-ins welcome.

Saturdays at 12 p.m. — Yoga. Bring your mat and set up in our community room for virtual yoga instruction. Walk-ins welcome.
