Icy roads blamed as truck flips in Webb
WEBB —No one was injured when icy road conditions in Herkimer County caused a fuel truck to overturn Thursday morning, according to the Webb Police Department.
Police said John Selby III, 45, of Inlet, Hamilton County, was eastbound on South Shore Road at about 10 a.m. when he lost control of the rear of the truck on the icy roadway. Police said freezing rain had led to extremely icy roads, and the Raquette Lake Supply Company truck hit a snowbank and flipped over onto its side.
Only a small amount of fuel leaked from the tanker, authorities said. The road was closed for about two hours to right the truck.
Selby was not injured and no tickets were issued, police said. The crash occurred just east of Old Forge.
