CANASTOTA — The husband of 19-year-old Lizzie Garrow — the Canastota woman found stabbed to death — has been charged with murder.
George McDonald Jr., 24, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 23, by the Madison County Sheriff's Office, according to arrest records.
According to the records, he was charged with second-degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated criminal attempt, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, two counts of first-degree criminal contempt, and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Garrow was taken into custody on an unrelated parole violation on Friday, Sept. 25, in connection with a prior domestic dispute. He has been an inmate of the Madison County Jail since then. At the time, Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood said McDonald was a "person of interest" in his wife's homicide.
Garrow went missing on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Her body was discovered off of Main Street in Canastota on Sunday, Sept. 30.
The Madison County District Attorney's Office declined to comment on McDonald's arrest or his charges.
McDonald is to be arraigned on Thursday, Oct. 29.
