HISTORY OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT — Arthur L. Simmons III, left, executive director of the Rome Historical Society, 200 Church St., receives a check for $1,000 from Adam Hovak, chairman of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, during a recent socially-distanced ceremony. The Rome Historical Society, whose mission is to actively research, collect, preserve, and present the historical importance of Rome and to serve as an educational and community resource, received the funds through the chamber’s Business Assistance Fund, set up to assist community businesses and organizations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
